The ABC TV (see ABC Australian National TV page) hired a pie judge
from the Great Aussie Meat Pie Competition to test MICROFAN before the
“New Inventors” show. Therefore, it was logical to approach
the Great Aussie Meat Pie Competition boss and try to secure the approval
from the top gun in the country, I was half way there anyway. I managed
to convince John Ross, the Competition Director to conduct a demonstration
under his absolute control.
I was received very well by John but he made his initial position very
clear “Its impossible to get a decent pie from a microwave oven”.
Next, he grabbed a pie andI gave him a “Warming Tray”. As
usual he set 3 minutes delay and hit start, but the microwave was on
high. The outcome was a nice looking pie but hard as a rock. The filling
was black and well he made his point.
Now it was my turn. Firstly, I explained the reasons why the pie was
ruined. I lowered the microwave setting to medium and the next pie went
in. 3 minutes later John was pleasantly surprised with the quality of
a very hot pie and he start inspecting the texture, layers separation,
and its crispness. But the filling had some black spots, so I lowered
the
setting down to 2.5 minutes now the pie came out perfect. This time
his comment was “this is my first decent pie out of a microwave”.
We explored several ways to promote my invention during the next competition,
at the Fine Food Fair of September 2005.
The Great Aussie Meat Pie Competition is the highest authority regarding
Australian Meat Pies. Therefore, being associated with them leads firmly
to one conclusion that MICROFAN TECHNOLOGY works.
